Making the effect when they fire might be tough.  The staff is a yellow bolt of plasma and the zat is blueish lightningish.

Jack will be back in the straight to tv movies.  Its stupid to say the show died when jack left.  Although it only lasted for two more seasons,  Mitchell was a good guy. 

It died, yeah. But Samantha Carter appears to be a main character in Atlantis.

  wtf? no she isn't.  In the fourth season I believe she will join the atlantis team, but not be a permanent member.  The show isn't dead yet, the two movies will finish up the threat of the ori.

SG-1 ended back in March. And, I meant in the fourth season, she appears to be a main character in that season, DUMBASS.

SG-1 hasnt ended yet here, infact it just played an episode on friday, 13 or 14.  The series might be over but the straight to tv movies CONTINUE exactly where SG-1 left off.  And in the fourth season she wouldn't be the main character.  They wouldn't take someone from SG-1 and instantly make them the main character without killing off someone on the cast with the same skills.  And furthermore, its way to early to tell.  you might see glimpses or previews, but if you check gateworld, they only have the description of one episode, so we don't know who plays the main part in those.  My guess is that carter will not be in every episode, maybe the first couple, but not all.  I think it might be possible in the 5th season for her to be worked in more.

The modern Zat blasts aren't lightning bolts, I think that from season 6 or 7 on, they shot blue-white orbs.
