If a zombie doesn't need air it won't drown?

If a zombie doesn't need air it won't drown?
I don't think your average zombie would be able to swim.

"Walking Dead" Zombies are fake. Virus controlled Zombies are very possible. Allow me to prove this. Now, I'm not saying it will ever happen, its just more realistic than a dead person walking the earth.

Quote from: Cracked.com
Parasites that turn victims into mindless, zombie-like slaves are fairly common in nature. There's one called toxoplasmosa gondii that seems to devote its entire existence to being terrifying.
This bug infects rats, but can only breed inside the intestines of a cat. The parasite knows it needs to get the rat inside the cat (yes, we realize this sounds like the beginning of the most forgeted-up Dr. Seuss poem ever) so the parasite takes over the rat's freaking brain, and intentionally makes it scurry toward where the cats hang out. The rat is being programmed to get itself eaten, and it doesn't even know.

I hae a question, What the forget would you use a laptop for?The internet would be down, and if it wasn't you wouldn't really have anything to talk to/play wth/do.

If I could have ANYTHING.

Spaceship to the moon.
filled with compressed air canisters.

Realistically.

Kitchen knife.
One of the guns from my fathers gun safe.
Food.
Water.
Running shoes.
Extra pairs of clothing for armor.

1) If you knew how the brain works, once the heart is done, the brain is done too. Without the heart(which cannot be restarted by a virus / bacteria / chemicals / electricity), the brain cannot get blood. No heart means no lungs, that means no air, which means the brain will be 100% empty in minutes. Even if it did start again, hearing, vision, feeling, and all sensory nerves would be eradicated.
Which brings us to...
Voodoo.

Tom

The internet would be down
Infrastructure would actually probably stay up for at least a week or two, probably much longer depending on how bad zombies would actually be. I don't think zombies would be likely to dig up optics cables and tear them apart.
Of course power might not stay up very long if lots of power plant operators get infected. But I think many power plants are designed to work like bunkers, so the crew might be able to stay sheltered for a little while.

Okay, but once the power DOES go out, then your laptop is as useful as a dead butler. And people could freak out in outbreaks and might crash into power lines, thus causing power outage. and with the zombies, they won't send crews to put it back up.

Water logged.

Actually it seems zombies do need air because they always inhale and exhale very heavily. They die easily too when you remove their lungs.

However no one knows since zombies don't exist.

I don't think that power loss would lead to the internet crashing.
It is very difficult to explain, I'll try.

It'll all probably start with someone uploading a video onto Youtube that (s)he caught of a zombie, followed by his/her terrified mumbling about the situation. Everyone's going to watch it, and in a day or two, the video would be removed, then eventually the website would close down, as more reports and videos would come piling in, then the world finds out that zombies are real, and pretty much everything would collapse. Business, for example. The internet would be the first to go, I think.

With out the regular maintenance to a nuclear power plant there would be a total meltdown.

Water dams could break easily if not maintained for years.

Electric plants would just shut down.

With out the regular maintenance to a nuclear power plant there would be a total meltdown.
Once while watching educational television(that's how boring my life is) an episode of Life After People came on. It said that after about two days unattended, nuclear plants have an auto shutdown feature that kicks in.
But then, what do I know?

Never mind, that's probably completely wrong. I can feel it.

Yeah I'd imagine Nuclear Power Plants have reliable failsafes.

well... i would steal an armored swat vehicle and modify it so that you could add gas to the tank from inside the vehicle, i would pack it with food and enough gas to reach way up north. i would only bring enough guns/ammo so me and two other people could defend ourselves for about 5 years. i would drive to a costco and make it zombie proof by using those huge ass container things to prop the heavy metal doors shut and completely block that stuffty gate in the front. all in all i would bring
armored car
stuff ton of gas
3 pistols
3 rifles
500 ammo each
mele weapons [axes, swords, knives, anything that could kill a zombie]
food for 1 year.
tools
generator- i would rig it up to one of those stationary bikes so that it would supply energy to the costco, hence the tools.

if not that i would get a helicopter pilot and 3 other people, get the pilot to fly us to an oil rig. then we would clear out the oil rig in special bite proof armor, such as kevlar sleeves, pant legs, and gloves. once that was cleared off we would have to disconnect the lowest part of the rig so that zombie floaters couldn't stumble upon our spot. i would have the pilot go back for some simple resources before there was a full on apocalypse. the rescued members of the oil crew would be subsequently checked for bites, and used to help us run the oil into something we could use. then we could use hooks to catch as much fish as possible.

items
helicopter
enough gas to get to the oil rig
10 pistols
10 rifles
500 rounds of ammo each
mele weapons
food for 5 years
tools
the generator bike.

Modern nuclear plants have control rooms that are like bunkers. The AP1000 claims its control can sustain its crew for 72 hours, and it can even be completely sealed off.

And I would imagine that keeping infrastructure up would be the government's top priority in the event of a zombie outbreak. They wouldn't be sending the army off the kill zombies, they would most likely use the army to maintain stuff.
