You might want to take into consideration a SSD for booting your OS and working with other applications faster.

Not a bad idea.

They're relatively expensive though.

Yeah, but with his budget I don't think it should be a problem, unless he's already hit the full 2k maximum.

On the 1.5k sure, the $2k has already hit it at $1990-ish.

SSDs are basically flash memory hard drives.  Incredibly fast for booting up Windows, so be sure you install Windows on the SSD (160 GB) and leave your other hard drive for games, etc.

I'd go for a much smaller SSD if you're just going to put windows on there.

I have discovered a problem. I have quite a few pets, and the last desktop I had would always get its fans clogged with hair. I'm going to look around for a nice liquid cooled one.

I have no clue how to do liquid cooling, sorry :(

Throw a bucket of water on it.

My problem with windows is the kernel hasn't been changed since the beginning, the OS takes up 2 gigs just to run, and all that trial bullstuff will slow it down even more. And even then, the viruses and other stuff...

I will consider all options though.
None of these problems plague my gaming rig.

Why don't you just buy an alienware :o

That was my last desktop lol. 12 years ago. They turned to stuff when HP bought them, now its just paying for a name.

Laughed so hard.

They're still really good. :o

No where near as good as they were though.

Alienware's computers are over priced pieces of stuff. Stop recommending people to buy Alienware when they obviously asked for parts for a custom build.

I dropped the keyboard since I already have a nice gaming keyboard. Dropped the price down to 1.4k. I am extremely pleased. Thanks for your help everyone.
