Please explain how that is worse.

I only did it to push the pony links off my page because there is TOO MUCH spam for me to delete.

Isn't there a way to prohibit non-members from posting comments and set the group to invite only?

You have to be a member to post in groups anyways and you can't ban people from groups, only kick.
