haha, i think his reaction is similar to the reaction of Faust leaving the show and everyone thought it would fall out flat
season two did fine (she wasn't part of the entire production), season three has done fine

Maybe, but I'm a pessimist because my faith in humanity has been broken by various people throughout my life, and as a result I expect the worst, that way I'm never disappointed and when things actually work out it's a pleasant surprise.
But enough about my deep-rooted personal problems. Back to the point.
