I know you like your work. I know you think it's better than other work. But technically, there can be no such thing as "bad art", because "art" itself is undefinable except as a method of expression. Everything else? Just opinions.
You may not have meant to come across as all-around hostile, but it's how it came out. Slow down and consider stuff, ok? I like all your art. Now please, stop arguing. Everyone has their own style, and no two styles quite look alike, and some people will prefer the one that isn't yours.
Now, Pengie, you did admittedly escalate things. I know you were trying to make a point, but it came off as harsher than it needed to be.

The more I look through the drawfriends, front pages, and big threads on /mlp/ and /art/ on ponychan the less I understand the average persons perception of art and beauty. I'm getting to the point where I don't care if I come off as a jerk. There are some crappy pieces that get in there and get noticed. Someone explain how this deserves to be on drawfriend. At this point I don't know if I want to even do art anymore if something like that can make it yet something that doesn't look like a yellow loving potato gets rejected.
I would like you to point out where I mentioned Pengie.
You started going off on Pengie when he went off on you. That would have been a perfectly reasonable reaction if you hadn't gone as far as you did. ALL of us have room for improvement, guys.
Now, listen and listen up, because again I say:
Art is undefinable except as a method of expression. What is "good art" and what is "mediocre art" and what is "bad art" is in no way grounded in fact. Some people can throw something together with little to no effort and have it called "good art", while others will expend enormous amounts of effort only to be pooh-poohed by some art community or another. And you know what?
There's not a damn thing that can be done about it.People will be people. If you only do your art because you want other people to like you, you're missing the entire point of art. If you do your art because
you like to do art, that's all that matters, and the reactions of anybody else (aside from attempts at constructive criticism in some cases) should not matter.
Now, can we all please be friends?
