This kit would be roughly $450 during a 4th of july sale. Hooooly crap. I don't know if any of you people have seen the kit I have right now (it's this piece of stuff) but it would be a dream to have this new kit. For such a great price, too!

The bad part is, I easily have enough money to buy this myself, but I would drain my savings.

So I ask you, o people of BL forums, wat 2 do?

1. Ask mah parents if I can buy it, telling them I understand it would drain lots of savings, but that I would love the opportunity to flesh out my drumming a little more with a better kit, because I think if I have a good kit I could really get somewhere. Already being in a band, I really just needed the equipment.

2. Accept I don't really need it and move on, passing up the great deal, and living with the piece 'o' stuff I have right now, that doesn't really allow for me to expand my drumming capabilities with the extremely poor condition it's in.

Sorry, I'm being rather impatient right now.

Personally, if it is what you love to do I would say go for it.

I would say this, but I would also keep your savings in mind. Purchasing equipment for something you love to do is great and all, but it is always good to have money left in your savings. You never know when you will need that money.

Last summer I purchased an ATV and all the other needed accessories. In total it cost me $3,000. Pricey, but its what I love to do. The thing is though, I had enough in my savings to spend that much and still have money leftover for whatever events proceeded.

So my advice. If you love drumming, go for it. Just make sure the low amount of money you have left is enough to get you through situations later.

Nice to know I'm not the only one that like A7X

Steal the drumset, that way it's free and you use the $450 to buy a lifetime of outrageous builder's club.

Steal the drumset.
The last two of your posts I read like you a bit more.

Go with option one, mate. Even if you don't get it you might be able to get it in the future.

Also, good luck with your band

Bump.

Thanks for the input so far.

Update: The link I posted is for the bare kit, equipment sold separately, so that's why it's so cheap. It's looking more like this right now. That will drain more of my savings, but in reality not much more than the initial kit I posted so...yeah...nothing really changes.

What I do with all my purchases is make sure I have at least of half the cost of what I'm buying in my checkings or savings account.

So, follow that train of though, save until you have 1.5 times what you need, then get it.
