How to Use a PS3 Controller on a PC

One industrious modder out there has created a simple program so you can use your PS3′s SIXAXIS controller on a PC like a game pad. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

    1. Download this archive and install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe).
    2. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe
    3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
    4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.
    5. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn’t see it straight away.

Unfortunately, the motion sensing features aren’t possible on the PC (not yet as least). But still, this is pretty easy way to net yourself a free usable game pad.

Playing with the keyboard sucks on some games. Try playing something like Touhou on the keyboard, it's miserable mang.

I heard its easier to play GTA4 with a controller.  I still prefer to use a keyboard and mouse, however.

Immaterial and Missing Power is miserable with the keyboard.


also, i use DS3 tool. pain to set up, but it works :D

Or the fighting games. God damn you cannot pull of combos with the keyboard and anyone that claims to be able to is lying.

IaMP is probably the most confusing fighting game.


GOD DANG IT you cannot pull off the diagonals at all with a keyboard.

Some games you really need those two sticks. Like Dynasty Warriors Online. I cannot use the keyboard and mouse for that game and don't know how others do it.

there are hundreds of pc gamepads that are way cheaper and do the same thing.
even a wired xbox pad works right out of the box.

Yeah but I already have a PS3 controller and it's the only controller that I have that can connect to a computer.
I don't wanna spend money just because I can't seem to get it to work on this computer.

I don't know why you would do this, if you play multiplayer then you'll get owned by the more accurate mouse and keyboard.  But if you're playing singleplayer with autoaim on, I guess it's okay.

You don't need auto aim on unless you really loving suck.
