does the most recent nvidia series have a dual-core gpu yet? they usually make one every time.
i prefer those over 2 cards
Does it? xD
I have no idea.

I believe that the GTX 590 is. My friend recommended two GTX 570s to me. Apparently that combination is a much better bang for your buck then the GTX 590.

price maybe. but for me it was always a better save on watts and heat

I don't mind the extra watts.
I have a 1000 watt power supply combo'd with the case.

i had the first possible quad core gpu setup few years ago. was two 9800gx2's

could rock any game at x64 anti aliasing and not even feel it.
but 1200w psu could barely keep up.
i had to cheat and use 2 power supplies

K I just added it.
It's around 2650 bucks.
Any way I could/should cut down?

Damn. Are you recommending that?

no lol. i wouldnt try that again. it did cost a crapload and was to much trouble.

Ah.
So is there any way I could/should cut down on price?
And with this setup, incorporating http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162075 two of those, what games do you think I could run, and on what settings?
Also incorporating the new cpu you suggested instead of the one in OP. And http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231358 this ram.

I've gotta find out how much my dad is willing to help me out with. xC

should have started with a budget lol.

Tom

I'm not a hardware expert, but could it possibly be better to not try to go way overkill on the GPU and RAM, because you can always upgrade those as needed.

Few things, bro;
  • Intel processor + ATI graphics = usually not pretty.  Problems are not uncommon when those two are used in conjunction.
  • Do you SERIOUSLY need 24GB of RAM?  It's serious overkill.  Your motherboard only has 4 memory slots and the RAM you want is a 6-piece set.  12GB is largely plenty and will last you a long time.
  • I'm no expert on liquid cooling, but that doesn't look like a complete liquid cooling kit.  I think it needs a reservoir, but again I've never done water cooling ever.

Not true.

Very true.

BTW, OP, the 6970 you have in the OP is better than the GTX 570. I haven't read the whole topic though so I presume you swapped them over.
Plus Crossfire scaling is better than SLI scaling, so you'd be getting more bang for your buck, or even get a 6990 and blow anything else out of the water.

Also also, instead of having a Logitech keyboard, Microsoft mouse and Razer headset, why not just stick to one brand?
I can vouch for Logitechs products and have their best mouse, best keyboard and best headset (G9x, corded cause they are better, G19, and G35 (7.1 :3)) as well as their G13 gamepad and G27 wheel. I'd never go back to Razer personally.

Also also also (fourth edit), how soon do you have to have this? IMO it'd be better to wait for Zambezi architecture (AMDs first CPU redesign in like 9 years). The top of the range one will have 8 cores and should be better than the i7s. They release sometime August/September.
