Author Topic: Wallet's Scripting Class episode III: Revenge of the Script  (Read 8826 times)

WHAT IT IS:
An online activity in which I try to teach TScript for at least 1 hour a day to whoever shows up. IT IS OVER, BUT THE CLASS MATERIALS ARE AVAILABLE BELOW.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • You need to be good with computers. I don't have time to tell you how to make a new folder.
  • In order to get anything done, you'll probably need a working copy of BL. The ideal set-up will have no add-ons or mods other than RTB and the mission editor.
  • Scripting itself can be done in any text editor (in fact we demonstrate this on day 1), but the computer can help you a lot with this, so I recommend you get some kind of script editor. For those using Windows, I recommend, naturally, that you use exactly what I use: Crimson Editor with my custom syntax file (which replaces the C# syntax files - I'm assuming the people taking this class don't program a ton in C#.) You can download Crimson Editor from the official site, then get my syntax files here (just unzip into Crimson Editor/spec/). Another good alternative to Crimson Editor is Notepad++.
  • There's a sticky in the coding forum with an awesome reference; it doesn't have any blockland-specific stuff but it's a good thing to have around anyway. You should get it IMO.

THE CLASS MATERIALS:
These documents accompanied the daily lectures. They may not be very illustrative or complete because they were not intended as the sole source of information, but a supplement to the lectures. However you will probably find them very informative even if you missed the class itself.

Hot. I really need to step up my scripting game.

Ill show up, I need something to ease up on C++ and Java

The link for the syntax files has been updated.

Ill probably come to the last few days.

Not one person has formally registered yet (see bullet #3), which is pretty damn far from what happened the last two years. I might have to cancel due to lack of interest. We'll see how many show up tomorrow.

I'm going to try again with this. Last year this happened I had a really bad sleep schedule.

I actually want to fix the Jetpack's streams and emitters soon, so this might help.
