Every so often in our lives, a piece of entertainment is released that completely blows the doors off of what we thought was possible.

Whether it be a revolution in tempo, story telling, special effects or quality, these events do not occur often. But when they do, the world is taken by storm.

Today, I am reviewing what will be known to hundreds of generations as THE hallmark of interactive entertainment: Duty Calls: The Calm Before The Storm.

You should already know from the title that the game KNOWS it will create a storm.

From the first time I saw the game and chose to download the meager 759mb file (for the perfect price – FREE!) I knew it was going to be something special.

Maybe even the greatest moment in the entire gaming history, such was the amazing innovation of this title.

Move Over, Bioshock: There’s A New King

Duty Calls is quite revolutionary from the second you get to the main menu. There is no option to adjust visual settings or keyboard controls; you simply just play the game.  Incredibly simple, but brilliant!

After seeing the brief control layout, the opening cinematic completely enveloped me into the atmosphere. A grizzled war veteran talks about how war has changed, or not, and never before in my life have I felt so connected to such an impressive narrator. Ron Perlman will be jealous of this guy!

From the first second of gameplay, I knew this would be the greatest game I ever played.

You start off by receiving orders from a distant military commander who is completely ecstatic about your mission.

After accepting these orders, you proceed through the most realistic shooter corridor I’ve ever seen. All of a sudden, Duty Calls’s intense action begins with a bang: an enemy pops out from behind a crate, yelling in the most intimidating of voices.  I mean, the game has crates for cover, how great is that!

I proceeded to end his poor, meaningless life, and was treated to the most realistic death animation ever witnessed in a video game.

As soon as I killed him, I immediately received my first rank in Duty Calls’s deep leveling system: Master Sergeant! It also takes a unique spin on traditional military ranking system, thus rewarding the player tenfold and encouraging nothing but positive vibes.

After blasting through a few enemies and traversing minor areas, I discovered that Duty Calls features a deep inventory system, with a wide arrangement of objects to pick up. The ability to pick up a stick?  Amazing!

Many encounters later (which were some of the most creative I’ve ever witnessed in gaming), I was at the end of this robust title.

Cautiously, I busted my way into a warehouse where I ran into the most fleshed-out boss of all time. A large, menacing figure who held a nuclear warhead, and would fight to the death to give it up. Maybe.

I won’t spoil how the scenario turned out, but what followed was the most profound, emotional ending I could ever hope to experience in my lifetime. When I realized it was over, I found tears running down my face; Duty Calls was the textbook definition of what the game industry needs more of.
The Numbers Are In

After completing Duty Calls, I walked away a different man. I was emotionally impacted by some of the most influential storytelling ever derived.

Not only was the cast of characters brilliant, but the sound design was in a perfect equilibrium.

Weapons are highly realistic, with the most true-to-life shots since Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Apart from the actual firearms used in the game, characters have voice acting with some of the best actors since Nathan Fillion.

All these elements combine to create a riveting, visceral, emotionally challenging narrative that will undoubtedly send a ripple throughout the industry; the next generation of storytelling has arrived.

I just downloaded it, this review is amazing!

The story is innovating, the graphics are just drop dead realistic, and especially the guns, they're the most realistic of all! Every time I shoot it says boring. The enemies have the best intimidating voices, and the death animations, don't even get me started.

I recommend picking up this amazing title here for the amazing price of $0.00 dollars, Idk the price in Euros, pounds or other currencies.

Discuss this amazing game.
