C7 is a great pack. I feel that it works great with this game. Mainly the gas tanks, but the wings are great too.
I use the C7 pack on my ship that gets to the Mün, but it isn't unbalanced.

EDIT: Also, I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but 0.12 Pre-Release 3 is out. I'm not sure what's new, but I know it fixed some bugs that should make getting to the moon a little bit easier.

And now "Experimental Releases" is listed at the bottom of the download page of the KSP website. c:

i just got the game recently, how do you update to a newer version?

I just copy my Ships and Parts folder to the new KSP folder and delete my old one.

just had a cool moment

i had a ship with about 4 decouplings
after the 2nd separation i realized i didn't have sas and rcs on the resulting thing
the ship spun and imploded, but the command podule and the parachute survived
whole crew freaked out, even jeb

here's the ship if you care

So hopefully your ship doesn't get destroyed from a good splashdown and there's new engines that allow you to not spin out of control. c:

When should I download the update?

RCS?

RCS?

No, he just said that splashdowns are more realistic now, and there's engine gimballing.
And less glitches.
