Author Topic: Bisjac builds a comp  (Read 3478 times)

(this is a topic about you building me a computer and being rewarded a free game of your choice)

I been gaming on my laptop for like a year now, but im back to taking my nerding way more serious. less mobile living. 1 month from now i will be making my order for parts.

Not upgrading my half ass game-lappy, i havnt been following any of my brands and models, so im a lil out of touch for desktop hardware. i wont ask my other nerd communities any advice, ill keep it in my blockland forum.

the ██████'s are really annoying

Few questions;
How much storage would you be looking at? 2TB?
How many optical drives? (DVD, Bluray etc, would you need more than 1?)
How many monitors? For a build this expensive you'd possibly want nVidia surround over 3 monitors.

PNY (aka Nvidia)
1gb GDDR5
PCI express blah blah

my main storage is external drives already as is.

No it doesn't necessarily.

Say if it was a a dual core, each core would have 1.7ghz of power to process things.
If it was a quad core, as such, each core would .85ghz of power to process things.

That can be a big difference, and most programs out there use a max of up to 2 cores anyway.

nick. i think you misread it. the budget was 3k.
but that is pretty sweet for 2k, and for the topic so far

I'd suggest a dual core processor however.
For reasons stated in above posts.

I added in some more expensive stuff, check it out.

The only problem is the 590 is out of stock because all the other rich people buy it.

I'd suggest a dual core processor however.

Even considering that, it is completely stupid to consider buying a dual core for a high-end gaming build.

More and more high-end games are using multiple cores now.  Plus, with Intel's Sandy Bridge processors going up to stock clocks of 3.0+, the division between each wouldn't matter.  I'm not too sure on how processor clock distributes out but I think all the cores are all clocked to 3.4 GHz, not divided out...  I might be wrong though.
