Author Topic: I wanna make weapon pack too.  (Read 2638 times)

So guys I figured I should try my hand at making weapons.
I just started modeling and I find it somewhat fun.
The models will probably be like the below picture, but hopefully much better.
I made these in a rush for my server, without any reference weapons. (e.g. they are random and not supposed to represent real weapons)

(the crossbow has hollow parts you can't see from that angle, I had a hard time finding a decent angle to show it at)

One is a gun which fires bursts of five bullets in quick succession, small grey spheres, on each click.
The other is a crossbow, silent, and doing 200 damage with perfect accuracy, but with a long reload time.
Once I check the addons for any last errors, I'll upload and post links for testing.
Also, if anyone can suggest something to make, that'd be nice.

By the way, I'm just learning what flatshading is and how to animate, so don't complain about those things yet.
Also, these are used in my server, if you wish to see them right now.

Eh... I don't like the models.

Eh... I don't like the models.
Meh, they're like my first models.

Haha, I kinda like those, keep it up.

Also, what modelling program you're using?

Blender.

Never release your first models.

These are a pretty much just boxes thrown together... :C

I think you should take a look at Bushi's stuff, or dare I say mine, just to get a feel of the thickness of stuff.

For instance, the bolt on the cbow is really round, but it should only be hexagonal or pentagonal, or at the most, octagonal. Also, in general, they seem to have lots of planes, and uneven collision...

Practice more, I would redo the models.

That was an example, because his weapons are the general shape and level of detail that is good for blockland.

Eh... Higher quality models aren't bad either. I think it's just the opinion of the person.

Detail =/= Quality.

I would not say that Bushi's are any better than Takato's, or vice versa, just because of their detail level.

True, I just think Bushi's could have a little more detail. They all look to generic.

The point of Bushi's is to look good enough to pass as adequate, but not so detailed that he can't release them in mass. Notice his mass amount of weapons.

Blender.
GO BLENDER
I think if you get better, maybe you could make an L4D weaponset, maybe. Just maybe.

There's like, five weapons.
But hell, that seems easy enough, why not?
