Author Topic: Fixing this master server outage  (Read 4932 times)

Mac
There is a solution for the mac users. I knew that the UNIX system also had a hosts file.

http://decoding.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/how-to-edit-the-hosts-file-in-mac-os-x-leopard/

just replace the notepad parts with this and you're all set.

Windows

1. Run notepad as administrator

2. Paste the following content into your notepad document:
Code: [Select]
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1       localhost
# ::1             localhost
127.0.0.1       localhost
75.125.196.138 forum.blockland.us
75.125.196.138 blockland.us
75.125.196.138 master2.blockland.us
75.125.196.138 master.blockland.us
75.125.196.138 auth.blockland.us
(also, check if the hosts file listed below has more contents than just "127.0.0.1"
An unmodified copy of the hosts file should only have 127.0.0.1. If there is more,
don't forget to include it)

3. Save the file to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

4. Restart Blockland

5. ???

6. Profit

Yes. For a large group of people Blockland and all of its websites were down. The websites, like this forums, would simply 404 every time you tried to open it and Blockland in game was stuck on Offline Mode. It was hell.

This however worked. Thank you Kalphiter.

Edit: However, now Blockland Authenticates forever not letting me on servers, and I have to re-enter my pin every time I open Blockland.
Help.

"Blockland Authenticates forever not letting me on servers, and I have to re-enter my pin every time I open Blockland."

This is getting old. What the hell is going on?

Badspot died, the servers lost whatever makes them fast because that is paid for and no more payment. Soon, we will all be dead. :panda:

Oh stuff. The Download for Blockland is down. Not sure if this is a reminiscence of the issue I just recovered from or not though..

Spread the link to people who are having problems.

I just verified that its a problem with specific keys. I used my friends key and it worked fine, however mine still does not work. Wtf..

Also the Download for the game is not down, also, re-downloading the game does NOT help.
I still have to re-enter my Key every time I open Blockland and even then it doesn't authenticate. It just sits there, 'authenticating'.. forever..

I am uploading a copy to a different mirror.

Add the following line:
216.137.61.217   cloud.blockland.us

Nothing is down for me :o

It is only for certain people.
