Safe work environment
By the looks of things here, only a few people have played HL1.
Aperture by far. They aren't as sadistic, the most advanced AI ever decided humans suck and tried to kill us all.
Attending to all the smelly humans. The... umm... sorry about that, that just slipped out.
Alright, this is all of why I like Aperture.#1 The whole mysteriousness about it. I like how the facility has so many stories, and secrets. I always wonder about those dinosaur transmission noises. What they are supposed to be.Have you ever played the half-life games? Black Mesa isn't without it's own mysteries, and nothing seen in either portal game can top the mysteriousness of the G-Man.#2 Even if in apocalyptic events, and destruction, the AIs are always there, even if GLaDOS killed all of the employees, they still get the science done.In said apocalyptic event (the combine invasion, as it is implied), Black Mesa didn't just wait it out, they fixed it.#3 Technology. They can have a person half-dead, half-alive in a bed for tons of years, and awaken them. Also, that Handheld Portal Device. I'm not sure how it pops these weird holes in a wall without creating a block hole or something, and allow a person to step through it, and come out of another hole. This is quite interesting.Well, as far as technology, BM has interdenominational portals (we know that they were deliberately making those on a regular basis due to the Half life level "questionable ethics"), Giant fighting robots (if you can count things GLADoS made between Portal and Portal 2, I can count Eli's creations), loving POWER ARMOR, two energy weapons: the tau cannon and the gluon gun, a turret more effective than aperture's, large robots to do manual work (seen in half-life's intro), actual safety measures, and many more cool things seen throughout half life and half life 2.Warning - while you were typing 3 new replies have been posted. They have different goddamn goals, yet they're compared like their goal is the same.
Aperture was competing against Black Mesa, everyone knows that.
Unless you haven't played Episode 2.
Or didn't pay any attention to the environment near the end of Portal 1.
