Metal is the greatest genre ever, period. If you don't agree you can go get forgeted by a splintery bat full of rusty nails.
I like Metallica and Iron Maiden but this is the metal I really like.
There's about six trillion different sub-genres of metal so I'm just going to pick some of my favorites from a few of them:

Death Metal

Cannibal Corpse - Frantic Disembowelment
Cryptopsy - Carrionshine
Deicide - Homage for Satan

Technical Death Metal

Stabwound - Necrophagist
Beyond Bludgeoned - Brain Drill
Pavor - Furioso

Slamming Death Metal (I'm probably going to be the only one who actually likes this stuff)

Disfiguring the Goddess - Somnambulism Candlelight
Awaiting the Autopsy - Intestinal Self Strangulation
Ingested - Copremesis

Grindcore

Rotten Sound - Burden
Pig Destroyer - Scatology Homework
Nasum - Fury

Deathcore (The most universally and famously hated sub-genre in all of metal. A sub-genre I happen to love.)

King Conquer - The Beginning
Whitechapel - Breeding Violence
By Blood and Iron - The Infernal Offering

Technical Deathcore

Upheaval - Gardens of Babylon
Beneath the Massacre - Condemned
Within the Ruins - Behold the Harlot

Djent (Many do not consider this a real sub-genre, but I do)

I only like Power Metal

Hammerfall and DragonForce are my favorite power metal players, and Disturbed plays some Nu Metal. Nightwish plays some Symphonic Metal.

Evisceration Plague was a bit weak but KILL was amazing.
Witchery sounds ok, In this Moment has a bitch vocalist. Bitches don't belong in metal (or music period, unless they can do gutturals like the vocalist for Awaiting the Autopsy)

I can record myself playing some basic scales and speed it up x3 in the studio too. No talent involved in that.
