Author Topic: Parents and technology.  (Read 2210 times)

@ Dren they make sense, but arent true.. My parents arent the smartest people when it comes to technology. They are about average. Im a little tiny bit above average, but Im not a whiz.

My dad can repair computers and make websites etc.
My mom doesn't know anything.

My parents were convinced that Steam was a virus.

Mom uninstalled Blockland without my permission because she thought it would give her computer viruses. She also got Windows Defender thinking it would help her computer.

*le few days later*

"Why can't I connect to the Internet?!"

My dad thought I "broke into" with some hacking software to get access to our home router to try to fix the internet connection.

I just had to type 'gateway.2wire.net' and happily welcomes me with a homely interface.

This is why if you're smart enough to understand how to operate a computer, you should be smart enough to get your own.

My dad programs stuff for Honda Racing. He makes the cars not explode.

My father trusts me with stupid stuff that I can't fix. Or random ass weird questions. I installed google chrome for him, and he asked how to make the bookmarks tab full screen. He also has odd computer needs.

As for my mother, she's clueless. She doesn't pick up her phone because she doesn't know how to swipe down on the touch screen. She just calls you back when the ringing is done.

My parents were convinced that Steam was a virus.
ALL parents think this.
Me: "I think my computer has a virus."
Mom: "It's from all those games you download!"

Something happen to the computer
"Its because you play all of them videogames on the computer"

The computer is slow
"It's because you play all of them videogames on the computer" No it's not dammit, its slow because we have loving 100,000+ pictures in iPhoto.

IMO it's a damaged rope that is climbable by only an expert rope climber, leading to the 50th story of an abandoned warehouse that nobody wants to be in.

My dad has no loving clue how a computer works, but he did most of the work installing the upgraded card on my computer. He yells at me for spending half my day on it though.

My mom got mad at me for making my own user, even though I have told her several times how to get to her user.

Mom uninstalled Blockland without my permission because she thought it would give her computer viruses. She also got Windows Defender thinking it would help her computer.

"Why can't I connect to the Internet?!"

Surprised nobody has responded to this yet. She uninstalled Blockland thinking it was a virus!
