Oh god damnit I hope you're kidding.

I haven't read the bill, you haven't read the bill. No one is this whole community has read the bill.

The most we know about it is what major media has pumped out as scare tactics or the opposite, or chain emails calling Obama a socialist. If you are going to comment on a subject, make sure you know what the hell you're talking about.
listen i read the bill (my moms a senator) and i can tell you it has a whole article about the glory of soviet russia

I blame the blacks.  :cookieMonster:

SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING.

If you're saying that's what obama's done to be a dictator I'll have you know you've got him mixed up with the republicans who want to cut programs so they can give money to the rich.

Lol remember when they tried to cut funds to TEACHERS? They get about 50,000 dollars a year and they were like, "Blasted teachers soakin up all the money!"

Flat tax lol

The rich deserve to get richer. We are capitalist, go to China if you want to be "equal"

I think we should sell our country to big business and be ruled by corporations.

Why do the rich deserve to get richer? Most of the rich in our society don't do anything worthwhile. The extremely rich don't need all the money they have and money just causes corruption. Don't use "we are capitalist" as an excuse because our economic policy isn't some holy artifact fixed in stone that we aren't allowed to change.

They earned their money and it's stupid to take a higher percentage from them than from other people.

I guess they don't really deserve to get richer except by their own merit.

I also think it's a bit silly to punish people for being successful.

We aren't punishing them. If you look at more equal countries (as in less of a wealth gap) you'll see they are in much better shape than the United States.

Mental illness is less

prison population is less

happiness is higher

diseases are less etc etc

It's not a punishment, even if you tax a millionaire at 90% they still have $100,000 income and that's more than enough to live very comfortably, and nobody's suggesting a rate of 90%. And there are people a LOT richer than $1,000,000 a year. People simply don't need that kind of money and there are plenty of people who DO need it. I'm not suggesting making everyone completely equal because I agree that's stupid. I just think it's a given that current tax rates aren't enough and it makes more sense to take from those who have than those who don't. Obviously it's not an OPTIMAL situation but that's how it is.

I think that part of the freedom that our country was founded on would be at stake. Sure they may not need the money to survive. But they sure do need it to do all sorts of useless crap. But since they earned it, they should have the right to do that useless crap.

I don't think it's really a matter of what would be best. It's a matter of respecting the rights of people, no matter how rich or poor they are.

We. are. going. to. die.
