NOOS
GLAS AND SUCCUBUS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN THE EPISODE 8 PART 2 UPDATE

WHAT THE forget IS THIS
Vindictus (Korean: 마비노기 영웅전, Mabinogi Heroes) is a hack and slash MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) created by devCAT, an internal studio of Korean free-to-play game publisher Nexon. Vindictus is a prequel to the popular MMORPG Mabinogi and is known as Mabinogi Heroes outside of North America. Vindictus takes place in the same setting used in Mabinogi, but is placed chronologically several hundred years prior to the first game during a period of war and strife. Nexon America, Nexon's North American division, announced the new name on March 12, 2010 at the Game Developers' Conference in San Francisco.
Vindictus follows Nexon's traditional free-to-play model. The game itself is free to download and play and charged no purchase price. The game contains a virtual item shop to purchase in-game items through Nexon points to enhance the player's character's appearance, abilities or to revive a player.[source]

It's worth noting, by the way, that the game is built on the Source engine, so it has extremely beautiful graphics, an excellent physics engine (Which is the basis of the character to character grappling system and the destructible environments), and overall great performance.

WHAT THE HECK IS IT LIKE
I myself like to compare it to Monster Hunter but better.
Let me put this into perspective for good 'ol Mabinogi players: The Glas Ghaibhleann is already weakened when you fight him at the end of Generation 1, yes? Well, now you can weaken him in a 40 minute fight to the death between him and your other buddies (you can have up to 30 man raids)

forget YOUR WORDS MY EYES HUNGER
The aforementioned 40 minute boss fight against the full power Glas. Please note that is from a Korean player; The Glas fight isn't availible until next week or so, funnily enough. Now availible in the west yee hee hee. Also note that everyone is dead at the end and one lonely mage has to finish off Glas herself.

Fighting to boss Succubus. She also won't be available until next week's update. About a 10m fight. by the way here's her appearance with all armor breaks. :B

A 30 man raid demo against a boss polar bear. A full raid requires a lot of teamwork. As you can see in the video, some people tether down the bear with chain hooks while others attacks, and mages can lift the bear to disorient it.

Further use of 30 man raid system for a guild war. PvP in this game is extremely fast and intense, and you can see that the orderly fighting quickly breaks into an all out battle.

WHO'S PLAYIN' THIS?

The fact that there were classes in general turned me off :/

I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

The classes basically determine the type of weapon you use and that's about it.

I gave it another shot, its no where near as fun of a game as mabinogi, Vindictus lacked execution, just like APB.

Thats the point, in mabi, you could be like "I don't want to use swords now as magic looks cool" so you just switch.

But I'd much rather prefer a system in which I can go to the store, and purchase any weapon and use it, and you can choose your skills based on which weapons you use the most.

But like I said, I'll give it another shot, not complaining, can't have everything.

It basically comes down to whether you want an action game or an RPG. I myself prefer the action aspect of the game and thus I generally end up playing Vindictus more than I do Mabi.

I would enjoy being able to have a scythe and a shield in an illogical manner myself. :B
But really I see what you mean, I don't really get it myself, but I guess it's partially because of how the skill systems seem to work too.

Mabinogi has many more elements of an RP than Vindictus does, it has a much bigger more open world, and its skill system far exceeds Vindictus's in...everyway. However, the fact it was so slow gameplay/story wise, killed it's good points (At least for me). Mabinogi was completely based on point-and-click. Yes, there was many pretty things to look at and a lot of things to do, but when it boiled down to it, nothing mattered all that much. Whether you were fighting a goblin or shearing a sheep or even walking, you did the exact same thing. Clickclickclickclick and every once in a while you would press a button to mix things up. Don't get me wrong, it was and still is a good game, but the creators seemed to just be copying certain other mutiplayer RPs that were popular at the time.

That being said, one of the only thing Vindictus does have going for it is the gameplay aspect itself (Once again, at least for me). The skill/ranking/whatever system is a mess, to be blunt, and the classes being so very restricted and character-based completely takes out any role playing aspect there is (Granted, though, its not so much an RP as it is a fighting game thing). It's hard to believe that any of the AI characters care all that much about you in particular when you can walk out on the street (Which, by the way, I was upset to find that they didn't make any interiors at all but instead just gave us a picture of a room that rocked back and forth...good art, though) and see three dozen more of you with just different names...But I think that is more of a equality issue/marketing ploy in that, by one view, there is no one dominant player because each can only be skilled in one aspect and, by another, influences you to spend all your money and then rob an old lady for her's so that you can by customisable hair for your character (Capitalism strikes again!).

They are independent games, but each game does have aspects that would mesh well to each other. Vindictus's fighting system and gameplay style, and Mabinogi's...everything else. But in the end, they wanted to keep a steady stream playing Mabinogi while also opening its doors to a new audience. Which is, of course, their choice enti-

I mean...
