It's also why I loved Tribes: Vengeance.
The graphics are a bit outdated, I agree, but the weapon/attachment/armor selection, and jettisoning through levels via jetpacks, good weapons and campaign made the game for me. I don't understand kids that think graphics make a game.
If you tell someone graphics don't make a game and they reply "yes they do", bitch-slap them and lecture them on why graphics and aesthetics need to fit each other and why they shouldn't even be playing games.
If they still say you're bullstuffting yourself, slap them even harder and lecture them even louder and closer to their ears. Then bitchslap them again.
If they STILL say you're bullstuffting, just say forget it and stab them through the thorax.
