Capital Punishment
I don't believe in human nature. The reason I say this is because human behavior seems to be determined by our environment. That being said, people are not naturally born evil, their behaviors are determined by a number of factors.
For example, there was a study in Montreal on Self Delete victims. They found that they all had a gene for Self Delete except that gene was only activated if they were abused as children.
People just don't go on a killing spree for no reason. People don't steal for no reason. Something caused them to do that. So I don't believe that capital punishment is the most logical way to deal with these people. If we're really going to solve problems we need to brown townyze them and find out what made them tick. Then crack down on that.
Unfortunately prisons are owned by private corporations so they'd be less than happy to have that happen.
As for guns.
I don't think there is a need for citizens to have a gun. If they go hunting then guns should be available at a hunting center or something.
Now I will admit, it would be nice to have a gun to defend yourself and that's where I'm split.
But if we solve the root causes of crimes like stated above then there wouldn't be as much need. But as of now I guess citizens should have guns. They don't need miniguns or some stuff. I think the guns available to people today are fine.
