Now what happens if you can't reach the phone?  A robber will most likely be prepared for a break-in inside the house.  The robber may have a weapon, knife or gun, regardless, they could do damage.  Now, the gun should ONLY be a threat to the robber, if the robber were to see the gun, he would most likely become frightened.  I say guns should be a last resort for robber-repellent.

this is untrue, actually. robbers will often rob during the day when you're at work. less of a chance of getting caught, and if you live in a big city or big neighbourhood people are less likely to report it

I think that when a burglar comes into my house I should have enough fire power to pump him full of lead so he dies in the most painful way possible. Like that 12 gauge fletcher round? Where they fire tons of small nails into someone? I want that, so I can rip someone to pieces when they break in, and hear them scream while all their organs shut down.
