Getting a firearm at all should require a mental screening and a purpose for ownership. If you're doing to get a gun, might as well be able to get an automatic.

What if they're not there for the TV?  What if they are there for something else?  And no, I won't try to kill them, you threaten them or try to prevent shooting someone, I do not want to kill, I want to prevent anyone else from getting hurt.  If it is completely impossible to prevent the burglar from doing anymore damage or he doesn't feel threatened from the gun, you go for the gun.

There is a many variations of robberies.  They come for drug money, money, utensils, antiques, pink blankets, etc., its a matter of being prepared for when you have a psycho coming in willing to kill.

No, not 'just for fun'.  See, your not looking at what burglars are willing to do.  They're willing to kill, less of the time, they're willing to steal most of the time, either way its a threat to myself and my family.  I do not want him to hurt my family, he is the one doing the wrongdoings here, so I have to go out of my way to defend myself from those willing to harm my property and family.  Less of the time, he will get hurt, but that's negative side to stealing stuff from me.  Most of the time, he will run from me because he thinks I'll shoot when I point a gun at him.  You think I do that for fun?  Really?

And its not like I could give him a life lesson then and there, he has to face the consequences for his selfish wrongdoings, whether he was offered an opportunity to learn why what he was doing was wrong.  We have plenty of programs and churches to offer him support, so don't tell me we have a lack of these programs in moderately/heavily/rural-populated areas around the U.S.

The M16 is not a shoddy rifle, it is a reliable weapon that served America well in Vietnam. Where are you getting this stuff? Have you ever seen or used a M16 outside of COD? Video games know nothing about guns.

My thoughts on automatic self defense weapons is: It cannot be anything such as a military grade weapon. Civilians should not have acess to M16s or any other assault rifle.
