THE BEST WEAPON CHOICE?

Bow & Arrow - I like to sneak around and kill from afar!
Melee - Stealth and Mage characters are just wimps. Real men use swords!
Magic - Both Sword and Bow are rendered useless against my spells!

Overall leveling.

Say one of your major skills is nlade, and you use a sword.
Level that skill up once, 1/10 of your level done.

Use a blade AND an axe while two of your major skills are blade and blunt.
Level both skills up at the same time, 2/10 of your level done.

Progress faster, also kill moves look lovey.
Though the most we've seen is kicking a doge and stabbing a person in the chest.
There are no major skills. THough your point is still valid.

How do you level up in Skyrim then?

Im assuming that all your skills level you up, instead of just 7 in Oblivion.

Two one-handed weapons (sword and axe) alternating:
Attack 1, Use sword
Attack 2, Use axe
Attack 3, Use sword
Attack 4, Use axe

One one-handed weapon(sword):
Attack 1, Use sword
Attack 2, Use sword
Attack 3, Use sword
Attack 4, Use sword

All your doing is leveling two weapon skills at half the rate rather than one at full rate. You could have done this regardless by switching weapons every other level.

The real bonus from dual-wielding is probably going to come from abilities that let you swing both at the same time for combined damage.

oh and also
sword axe and mace are the same skill

the skills are two handed/one handed

Oh, cool.
Too bad we still don't get spears because I want to poke people with stuff.

Then there's really no benefit, in terms of skill gain, for dual-wielding.

I guess more damage output?
It's for people who don't really use shields, like me.
Though I probably will use shields more, I just couldn't be bothered since I always carried a torch.

mods
Mods are the reason bethesda isn't bothering with things like spears. They know that someone will create it for them and they can focus their time on much more important stuff.

I hate shields.

I don't like that casting detect life is now a constant drain on mana though it seems more balanced.

Yeah, I actually like how you can control how long you want a spell out.

Get equipment with a constant enchantment?
I wouldn't detect life being a spell that you can hit someone with so it constantly detects them.
But it would be a bit useless since if you were close enough to hit them, they'd probably hit you back.

How does enchanting work?

How does enchanting work?
First you need a soul.
Collect souls by filling soul gems.
Kill things to collect their souls if you have a Soul Trap spell on them at the time of their death.
If you have a soul gem in your inventory, the soul will fill the gem and you have a full soul gem.

Go to an enchanting station(If you're an Apprentice or higher in the Mages' Guild these become available to you in the Arcane University) and select the item you wish to enchant.

Then select the effect.
At a small cost, the item will be enchanted.

There are different types of soul gems for different strengths of souls.
From least to most potent:
-Petty
-Lesser
-Common
-Greater
-Grand

A low-strength soul can fit in a larger-strength soul gem(like putting a marble in a milk jug) but high-strength souls cannot fit into lower-strength soul gems(like putting a basketball into a peanut butter jar)

Typically, the stronger the enemy, the greater his soul will be. Do not expect a Grand soul from a mud crab, for instance.

The higher-strength the soul you use, the more potent the enchantment will be.

Or at least, that's how Oblivion's enchantment system works. Skyrim I can't see being much different.
Hope this helped.

Or you can use Sigil Stones which have pre-set enchantments that you can use to enchant items without visiting an enchantment station. Visit this page for information on Sigil Stones.
