THE BEST WEAPON CHOICE?

Bow & Arrow - I like to sneak around and kill from afar!
Melee - Stealth and Mage characters are just wimps. Real men use swords!
Magic - Both Sword and Bow are rendered useless against my spells!

I don't like 100% difficulty.

Doesn't feel real enough.
What do you suggest for most reality?

Also not going to loot armor off of corpses. Too heavy. If they died with honor, I won't loot at all. If not, I'll take valuables.

With 100% difficulty a mud crab will kill you.

stupid swordcigarettes

ill bash your head in!
ill shatter your shields!
i will fell all of you in one swipe of my great war maul!

Not before a well-placed arrow pierces your pupil. c:
black people
While my memory grants me no souvenirs of black men in video games set in feudal Europe, one comes to mind in a television series:

While Friar Tuck is most often than not portrayed by a white man, he is in this case played by African-American David Harewood.
And he does an excellent job.

And on the subject of roleplaying, I'm going to have to go with Lord Tony on this one. The game simply casts you in too high a role to allow me to pretend that I am, say, a lowly vinter on the outskirts of Skingrad, barely getting by in the world. While the skills of others seem to stay at pre-set ever-static levels, mine cannot. The game appeals to a human's lust for power by promising greater loot and more challenging monsters to fight to those who could mop the floor with any creature that stumbles into his path.

While it is possible to roleplay, I find it difficult because, in the end, I cannot focus on anything but making my character as powerful and rich as the game will allow.

I wish they would remove the difficulty slider so people can't just put it on the lowest.

AKA: My brother. He changes it around so much.

But if they did that, too many people would complain.

If you guys find it hard to roleplay in oblivion that's your hang up.
Half of my 350+ hours in oblivion were spent roleplaying and I greatly enjoyed it.

And Tony, there are plenty of games that meet what you consider a good game.
If you don't like the ELder Scrolls because of it's fantasy elements, don't play it.

I for one would think the game very boring without the great beasts that roam the land.

I never said I didn't like Elder Scrolls. I just find the roleplay mechanics to be broken. It's not a game you can roleplay in because it's eventually a quest for power and money.

At the start of the game it was hard collecting just 1,000 gold for me. At the near end I may collect just about 10,000+ gold per trip whenever I decide to explore in a cave or ruin. I now own all houses and I have enough money to just about buy out any buisness I could if the game were to allowed it. As for power at the start of the game I could get my ass kicked easily by rats and I had stuffty weapons. Near the end of the game I have stuffloads of legendary and strong weapons but I mostly use my custom made fire daedric two hand sword with the highest attack damage you could possibly have. I have special custom made daedric armor which can increase skills like attack, defense, speed, etc. I have a custom made daedric flame sword which spurts out flame damage in about a 25 feet radius. My acrobatics skill is so incredibly high I can literally jump over a house. I've also walked so much I run faster than a loving horse. I can never get sick I can keep making pies to cure diseases. I can make magic potions which could lighten my load by 500 pounds and they last for over a whole day. I go in caves/ruins just to collect money but how I do it is simple. I crouch all the time with my bow and gray fox cowl and I kill everyone with one hit with critical damage, the cowl allows me to see where everyone is so no surprises. I am the mother loving grand champion!

Just do quests.
???
Never become overpowered.

Never become overpowered.

Quests give you special items and skill advantages which will eventually make you become over powered. Like the gray cowl for example, you can see enemies through walls and it lightens your load. It's the perfect head gear for treasure hunting in caves/ruins/whatever and as a bonus you can kill as many guards as you want and the bounty will never be affected to your character.

*Unrelated note. About each and every person has the same voice (so does Fallout 3, New Vegas may actually have more unique voices because obsidian helped, go figure). My role play immersion experience with cities is broken because I just feel like I am in a fake video game city with a bunch of walking card board cut outs.

Oh and the dialog is messed up too which further makes it harder to try and roleplay because the town is full of stiff cardboard cut outs.

Orc: Any news from the other provinces?
High Elf: I saw a Mudcrab the other day. Nasty little creatures...
Orc: Bye.

Dunmer: How are you?
Imperial: (Snort)
Dunmer: I've heard others say the same

I embrace in Oblivion the fact that I am an all-powerful demigod-among-mortals tasked with saving Mundus. I don't pretend I'm a beggar.
I get pissed off at the guards when they call their Grand Champion, Champion of Cyrodiil, Gray Fox alter ego, and Guildmaster of the Fighter's Guild, "Citizen."

I have the same problem.

I am the Grand Champion, Champion of Cyrodiil, Gray Fox alter ego, Guildmaster of the Fighter's Guild, The Arch Mage of the mages guild and I am the listener to the Black Hand! I've spoken to the gods themselves and they've granted me their special items to help me complete my tasks.

Nothing pisses me off more when the guards call their all mighty ruler, "citizen." I am 100% above the law and if they try to resist I will kill them dead.

I'd expect even the guards to be in awe of my satus, which is way above theirs. I cut a swath through every single one of my combatants in the Arena like they were made of butter with armor of wet tissue. The Grey Prince was no different, and I felled him with three strokes of my longsword. I saved the skins of every last citizen, lawman, beggar, farmer, celebrity, noble, and the like in Tamriel with ease, practically destroyed the Blackwood Company, broke the curse on Benirus Manor, and swallowed the temptation to ram my sword through Alessia Caro's black heart when she called me a "Dirty Argonian" to my face, and they have the gall to refer to me as "Citizen."

What have the guards done? They throw lowly theives in prison for stealing loaves of bread, patrol the road looking for the deadliest of all of Tamriel's most terrifying creatures, the deadly mud crabs and rats that smite innocent people dead in a heartbeat. I took down a Daedric seige crawler, you know, the kind that the city watch couldn't do stuff for while it ripped Kvatch to shreds.

This is truly not a game you can pretend to be a beggar in because I am The Law! The guards try to talk down to me or kill me because they are jealous of my skills.

My house in skingrad is covered in bones, a severed head and a decapitated body!
The house in Skingrad that is, of course, the most luxurious and expensive in the game which you bought with money that you earned by smiting every threat in the world on your adventures! Huzzah!

I have trophies of all the beasts I've killed and all my accomplishments in that house alone.
