So today is the 2nd day of 8th grade and in Science we were doing this game where we throw some ball around and when you catch it you say something about yourself. So someone throws it to this new pale kid named Blake wearing a black shirt. So he says "I'm a furry and if you don't know what that is, don't ask". Me and some other people started laughing because everyone else didn't know what a furry was. But I mean come on, why tell the whole damn class you're a furry, plus hes a new kid so I think he just ruined his whole school year lol.

It is, because the other people who laughed told everyone that furry meant to fantasize loveually about animals. So basically everyone thinks he is a freak.

its not this incident in particular that will screw him over socially

its just that anyone stupid enough to say that will do many other stupid things. i mean, the majority of the class didnt even know what a furry was, why mention that you are one? it wont help them get to know you at all, which is the whole point of the activity. youll just get singled out as the really weird new kid.
