Author Topic: Nicey List  (Read 5078 times)

Plus there are a number of views that go into this - levels of how mean or kind something is that all can be seen in a number of lights; As such, just because someone acts mean doesn't mean they are a bad person. And likewise if a person does something kindly that doesn't define them as a saint. People are very...odd and diverse. By that, I find it best to give the benefit of the doubt to them and treat them with respect, kindness, and Love, as I'm sure many others do the same.

For example:
Be 'nice' and lie to someone to avoid upsetting them, or be 'mean' and tell them the truth.

I'm sure hearing the lie will make them temporarily happy, but they would much rather hear the truth and better themself in the long run. Humans love learning.

Very true, but:Not on these forums.
Most people on the forums, believe it or not, respond nicely to kindness if you aren't overbearing or use it in a sarcastic, patronizing way. True, if you are in an argument you probably can't go "LES BE FRWEND <3333" and expect rainbows to shoot from the innermost bowels of the internet, but you can always be assertive or merely agree to disagree if a topic goes to far - or simply stop replying. Sometimes satisfying another's desire to "win" an argument is the best solution to a petty quarrel. Sometimes it isn't; Depends on the situation.

Then again, you could also go right ahead and jump down each other's throat until you possess the other's skin. 'Tis a choice.

Exactly.

Kobewarrior is nice... right?

Sometimes telling people the truth isn't the right thing to do. I could go to a weight loss club and point out that all of them are fat, but that would just make people hate me. Just because it's true doesn't mean saying it is justified. Although I'm not saying you should lie about things either, especially if it actually matters.

I see your point. However, I still see very little kindness/tolerance on this board. According to most people in arguments it's impossible not to shove things down people's throats if you want to let it be known that you like something at all.

There are always circumstancial variables. As Chrono said, this entire topic is much more in-depth and one couldn't possibly go and outline everything that is nice to do and everything that is mean to do - just like you can't with good and bad or right and wrong. Things change, circumstances call for different choices, and time can transform a decision.

Like I said, sometimes it's best to just walk away. Err...click away. You get the point, though.

THAT'S IT YOU ARE NOW GOD.
._.

Which is why I just said it goes far more in-depth than that. I can find an example of what you're talking about, where something simply doesn't need to be said.

We also have to remember that the world isn't black and white.

If you see said fat people, you don't tell them the truth by saying they're fat. They probably already know. There's no need to tell them. You also don't lie and tell them they're fit. This would make them over-confident, and will probably look for reasons to slack off. Silence would be the best option, and sometimes, people forget that they can just not say anything. (Not saying to be a mute, just be silent about that topic)

There is always more than two options.
