I picked my spot with flux but I haven't found any.
Weird.

You should find huge amounts of marble after the first cavern layer, possibly even before it.

Just got my first fey mood.
I think I have what the dwarf wants so it should be fine.

She made Gurgomath an alder ring.

If, hypothetically, I wanted to make a catapult that launched badgers at enemies, would that be possible?

This is bullstuff.
I have no way to trade with this dwarf caravan.
There allowed wait is only 10 so I can't sell anything to them in order to get money to buy from them.

When you add things to be bought it increases their allowed weight.

How important is it that I trade with this caravan (first one)?
They are carrying a huge yak cage which is clogging up their inventory and the only thing of value I have to sell is hematite, which weighs a lot. I cannot pay off the yak cage and I cannot buy anything without freeing up their inventory space.

It's really not that important. They will come the following years regardless. Just don't let a dwarven caravan get killed.

sweet jesus
I just got a 20 dwarf migrant wave.

Also holy stuff. I have a Swordmaster who seems to be absolutely invincible. "She is unbelievably strong, basically unbreakable, very rarely sick and quick to heal."
This forgeter cleaned up an entire goblin siege composed of roughly 30 goblins and 20 ogres single handed, then walked back in to the fort with nothing but a mean appetite. I haven't seen her get hit in any combat reports, let alone get injured.
That sounds like my Adventure Mode character.

Protip: Pumping builds physical stats. If you have some sort of reserve militia, give them the pump operating job then build a gym. A gym is basically a room full of pumps that pump nothing.

hmm
I had a dwarf go into a fey mood, she never claimed a workshop and she just went berserk in her bedroom.
welp time to lock her in.

setting the door to forbidden and firmly shut will stop her from getting out right?

Forbidden will, firmly shut just stops animals from opening the door.

Provided she doesn't knock the door down, I don't know if berserk dwarves are capable of that.

First elven caravan has arrived.
I have no military, should I seize stuff?
