Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 141460 times)

The siege has been broken! 15 brave expert-legendary axedwarves armed with masterful steel axes and armor beat back TWO centaur sieges. The rewards from these extended conflicts are two enemy generals (who will be stuffed in cage and put on display in the meeting hall) and many, many tradeable articles of clothing.

He named his steel axe. It also has two minor kills, giant jaguars. That name is great, "The Stockade of Tears"

Another name. HELL YES THAT NAME.

I started playing DF again.
Made a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=way8K45KPK8&feature=youtu.be
Jacob/Lee is the one helping me play, as I remember how I play.

Oh my god.

>Rescue a prisoner from a village
>Go around
>She gets owned in battles
>See no use for her, take her to the woods to be killed
>She suddenly kicks my ass
>I finish her
>Bleed to death

That's why you wait until they sleep, then fast travel away before they wake up.

Or violently stab them to death in their sleep.

My friend was playing earlier and was playing adventure mode.
He started as an elf and had a wooden sword and a wooden shield.  The sword was a flaming pile of stuff that only an idiot would carry into battle because it almost always missed and when it did manage to land a hit it would only do a tiny bit of damage.  However, any time he would use his shield to bash an enemy, it would "hit in the head, crushing the skull, damaging the brain and tearing the brain.  He won so many fights with only that shield. He finally died because dragon.
The sword doesn't cause you to miss, that is your terrible sword wielding skill. Also, I killed literally hundreds of people with my female, elf spearwoman's shields. I literally just wanted to raise my misc. item usage skill and was so OP that I could kill anything in an average of 1-2 hits with a shield.

I would definitely play this game some more if anyone had a link to a tutorial for making a military, or could explain it in-depth. That's the most complex part of the game for me.

A list of pages on military functions, in a handy difficulty list format.

Hot guides guys. Thanks.

Blarg. Trying to get a swordsman started, but he always dies. I need to get some allies rather than just trying to solo quests.

This is great.  It's the tale of how a player came across a titan in a desert.  Upon finding said titan it steals his pants and beats him to death with them.

say there was a cat. this cat kills lots of ogres and trolls and goblins

would there be recorded history on the cat? would it be regarded as legendary? statues, engravings, rings of the cat in the general region it lived before it died?

i'm guessing yes

If it had a name probably. Non-sentient animals need a name to go down in history I would imagine.
