They're playable as outsiders: you don't need to be able to access the underground to play as them.

Anyway I'm not sure how to access the underground from adventure mode.
You can access the underground via map glitches or abandoned fortresses (provided you dug into the underground)

you can find your old fortresses?
can i leave sweet loot inside and take it in adventure mode?

Yeah, it'll be scattered everywhere though. Putting it in heavy containers like lead bins reduces the movement, though.

this truly is a disturbing game.

I have honestly never played anything like it. If there is another game like this, forget gimme

nethack

forgetin' bugbears, man (civilization forge). I can usually chop through 'em like butter but this time my bugman got trashed by them.

I thought I'd bump this because I just started playing again and will probably post some stuff.

in adventure mode, can you get followers? it would be cool if you could like, raid a city with a dwarf army or something

You can. However, the only settlements that exist right now are human. Talk to someone, preferably a soldier, and one of the options should be something that asks them to join you. Just don't attack their parent civilization.

Bump because I'm starting to play.

Is that beginners guide in the OP still accurate? It's a bit outdated.
