Author Topic: Acceptance of Differences  (Read 2056 times)

It seems that users in this forum go like "omg stop it", "ITS NOT COOL" if a person decides to write in bold text, or blue text, or even in another font.

Accept the differences. I like to write in Courier New, however, no one respected it. It is readable.
If it wasn't, ok, remove it. But it was readable, so I saw no problem in it.

Seriously.

The only person I have ever seen talk differently before was Emerson, and even then he just made his font small. Was this topic really necessary?

However, only because he typed in a small font (which was completely readable), he got his own drama thread and more than 10 butthurt users just because he wanted to use a different kind of font size.

This is true, and I thought that was beyond ridiculous, but I don't see this as a recurrent issue. That happened months ago. Maybe even a year ago.

noedit: Not a year ago. :l

I used to do that but a person jumped on me for it.
am i cool yet
now that is dumb cause it's not readable

im not attention whoring or anything

LOOK AT ME IM SO UNIQUE LIKE BUTTERFLY

i just can't stand being similar to you people, my avatar, name, and signature is simply not enough!

as a non-offensive reply, just because it's readable doesn't mean it's comfortable to read, if i were reading an essay and every paragraph was formatted entirely differently i, and possibly many other people would be bothered by it
it's why chat room programs wherein each person can change the look of their replies generally aren't widely preferred, looking at totally different text every 5 seconds could probably put some strain on the eyes(besides the obvious staring at a bright screen for extended periods of time)
and trying your best to be all unique and in-your-face-im-so-different is annoying

and different formatting options convey different emotions in posts, bold text is often emphasis, and an entire post in bold is like an entire post in caps, it's practically yelling, if someone posted only like this everyone would hate them
you probably read the bold text in a "louder" voice in your head
and as asablief said its kinda attention whoring

WHAT THE forget STOP READING MY MIND

you need to learn to accept different people

^That took me a dissapointingly long amount of time to comprehend.
