I'm mainly a punk/punk rock person, but I listen to alternative and metal, too. the only metal I listen to that I know off the top of my head is Lostprophets.
main punk(-ish) bands I listen to are Green Day (yes, I listen to the old stuff, even the unrecognized stuff, but I like the new stuff too), Sum 41, The Offspring (the -ish comes in here, but Im not totally sure what genre they are), and Blink-182. already said my metal band is Lostprophets (dat loveay hair). I listen to Metallica. only heavy metal I listen to. country is for loving pussies and girls who are poopy faces. I listen to alternative, being Korn and Linkin Park (same thing as Green Day with Linkin Park, I listen to the old stuff too, like the albums Reanimation, Meteora, and Hybrid Theory). Hoobastank is good too, but I dont know if that's alternative, or what's called 'other'.
I play guitar, and have played for about a year now, incase anyone cares. I have a plain ass Squier that's black and white because I say simple is best. it was 280 bucks and sounds great. not with the cord to my amp though, the thing is stuff, need a new cord.
tl;dr go the forget back and stop being lazy, read all that.
