Author Topic: The problem I have with "Innovative Gameplay"  (Read 1834 times)

Besides... I know some games that are very fun and have great music to go along with it.

In my mind, it was more the principle of taking away tried-and-true Kirby gaming techniques (yarn? that was a stupid idea) and replacing them with something "better."

As I said, GIMMICKS. Instead of making a new game with kirby plastered on it, they take away a few things and add stuff that's new territory because nobody was as high or stupid as nintendo.

Yes, the music adds to atmosphere. It's just that if you're only trying to sell a game for atmosphere, you're practically selling interactive movies.

My main problem with Epic Yarn is that they removes Kirby's sucking a blowing techniques. (That sounded far better in my head)
They replaced Copy Abilities with yarn whips and such, and they also made Epic Yarn impossible to lose at. This should be enough evidence it wasn't intended for our age group, eh?

Nintendo isn't the only one to do this. Take Sega, Sonic Storybook Series, mainly Black Knight. Sonic is as slow as stuff, and swings a big loving sword instead of jumping and rolling as in previosu games. I agree, gimmicky things like that are stupid.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game.

I loving hated the comic but the game wasn't actually so bad. It was worth the money spent for it.

I actually kinda regret buying the wii,The only game was was decent that i played was Brawl,

The only three games I really enjoyed were Mario Kart Wii where the motion sensor really worked, SSBB because I like the fighting elements and Monster Hunter Tri for not being a loving gimmick.

Since when has nintendo made any new franchises? All they do is take their existing franchises and keep making stuffty spin offs or stuffty main series titles.

Because we don't already have Mario party, mario sports, mario Olympics, mario go-kart racing, mario golf, mario basketball, mario tennis, mario soccer, etc.

Lylat Wars
Most of the Sonic games
Warcraft
Banjo Kazooie series
...

That doesn't mean other companies don't make games for the wii.

I think your opinion is biased here because every new game you hate just because it's new.

Spinoffs where they had to add gimmicks... I dislike that. I see where you're coming from. Almost EVERY gaming company has done this, if not all of them.
From personal experience...

Nintendo:
Almost EVERY Mario game
Kirby's Epic Yarn

EA Games:
Darkspore
Spore Hero (Arena)
Need for Speed: Carbon (mostly the control scheme)

SEGA:
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Sonic and the Black Knight

Positive there's more, but that's all I got off the top of my head.

They aren't first party nintendo games. I am talking about first party nintendo games like mario, kirby, Zelda, etc.

Name one NEW first party nintendo game between 2006-2011.

I don't get it. First everyone whines about how old-school gameplay is destroyed by this new bullstuff gameplay that no one can enjoy and then everyone whines about how the gameplay always is the same.
Get a hold of yourself people. Developers are humans after all.

But the comic, movie, and game were all amazing :C

Why should we take Sonic as an example? That series is absolute stuff

What we want is nintendo to stop running their existing franchises into the ground and come up with something new.
