Author Topic: Revolutionary save system  (Read 1400 times)

Okay, what if you could toggle something before starting the game that caused a radius to follow the player, the more players in the game, the smaller the radius got, and what it would do, any brick INSIDE the radius would show up (it would check the bricks location in the BLS save and the players location, and if the bricks location was under a set radius from the player, then it would show up, if it was over the radius, it would delete itself from the game, and everytime a new brick is planted, it would add itself to the BLS file, using this system enables the ability to have save files OVER 256,000 bricks, and other things like unlimited terrain mods and stuff like that

So, kinda like Eden for iOS?

So to put it simply, a radius around your player that if any brick enters, becomes visible and when left, becomes invisible again? Interesting idea. But it would look off with bigger bricks near smaller bricks.

Not sure I get what you're saying

A base plate would be shown but the bricks on it would not be.

Hm....I don't see a way around that either, but that would be the only downside to this mod, am I wrong?

Your not wrong, no. That is the only drawback. The only improvised way I can come up with is having an inverted bubble around you being a solid color not letting you see out so you can only see what the bubble allows. But that would ONLY be good for making darkness.

Which would also look really stupid, BUT, ya know how in the trench TDM's, you can use your trench shovel on an 8x8 brick and it turns into a bunch of smaller bricks? what if you were to do the exact opposite to the 16x16, for example, you walk up to it, and it turns into a 1x1, walk even further, and it turns that 1x1 into a 2x2, etc

Actually in Advanced Config when setting up a server you can set up the max brick limit to HIGHER than 256k. Not that it gets used much except in unlimited mining modes. Anyhow, i am also gonna say that a map set up with fog will also allow the visibility to be edited down a good bit... the bricks dont actually disappear tho.

Right over 256K, you start getting ghosting errors and stuff like that, this would NEVER go above the limit

Actually I have not run into serious ghosting issues besides a minor lag.

Still, a thing that disabled viewing for bricks farther away than the max fog limit could work...

I've never had issues with ghosting.

Blockland already has something similar to this, far away bricks don't load until you go within viewing distance. Since the reason for a brick limit is an issue with networking, deleting them when you go far away won't really help.
