Author Topic: When did you first start using internet slangs and emoticons?  (Read 797 times)

Meaning shortenings and faces such as "lol" "Ftw" "TL;DR" "Fml" ;-; ._. :U XD etc.

I first learned of it when I started playing Runescape, my first internet game. Much later I began to use it when I played Flyff, and up until now it's been sort of a second language to me. Not that I consider that a good thing. ;-;

When i first started using the internet.

You have to have learned it from somewhere besides just using it off the bat. Your response is un-clever and useless.

On the first server i joined some teens ACTUALLY tried to teach me it and it worked.
I think it's a welcome to the internet lesson.

Now real story:

I joined a few servers on warcraft 3 and they constantly use these slangs the emoticons. I slowly learned from it.

I almost never use any kind of faces or acronyms. Although I do use a colon and a lowercase P when I say something in jest, but that's pretty much it.
