How long does it take for someone to become good at fps games

So my brother is a 6 year old that plays lots of FPS
(of course its because i do so)
but he sucks at it
here the skills compared
me
Fast moving
get average kills
averagely die(will die lot if noobs around or if with a laggy time)
and I don't say I'm the best

my brother

slow moving(cant detect shooting easily has to check what keys hes pressing before doing it)
barely gets kills(except on dfx2 the enemies are handicap)
dies lots of time also gets pissed off and hits the desk
he thinks hes best
shoots a stuffload of bullets when he sees something in front of him
when hit he shoots randomly
tell me what to do because it  annoys me to see him dying
please no flames

He has to learn the keyboard to do any good. In fact, I typed this whole post without looking at my keyboard once.

I can beat everyone in my family at any FPS
it's not hard, really
but sometimes my stepbrothers get angry and so they yell or something
I just tell them to stop, because the majority of the time they are playing a game that I own

If he's new to FPS games he should NOT be playing CSS.

he isnt realy new like 1 or 2 years of stuffting arround
now css is kinda hard since he only plays zombie servers
and sometimes he plays hl2 *headcrabzombieshows*

The only time I look at the keyboard is when I am bored.
Also, I think I learned when I played Killzone.  BUT...
It wasn't until years later until I got Killzone 3.
I started playing and adapting to the new controls.  And I started kicking ass.
Mostly I play Botzone because I can listen to my music and not deal with Quickscopers.
I remember one time I rocked a whole entire group of people with the STa3 LMG with out even zooming in (STa3 had no Iron sights nor Scopes.)  Another time I actually went burst fire with the STa3, and got a headshot, from over 100 meters away.

It depends on your ability to quickly brown townyze the situation that you are in while in the game and your ability to pick out higher priority targets over others, and many other tactical abilities and thought processes.

I've gotten very good at shooting games just by playing them a lot and by easily going for either headshots or non-armor shots, and so on.

Yeah - decision making, along with movement and crCIA management, are very important skills (at least in good FPS).
