MY GODDAMN DOOR

So the door to my bedroom has had this pain-in-the-ass problem for years now. Recently, I made an attempt to scour the internet for a solution to the problem. The problem is that it closes fine, but it doesn't stay in one place. Does that make sense? If it's not fully closed, let's say closed to the extent of a 45 degree angle, it automatically starts falling back to 90 degrees, or all the way open. Is there a way I can tighten the hinges? Tightening the screws hasn't helped at all.

Sorry, it's hard to explain. It either has to be totally open, or closed. It won't stay at an angle.

if it's open just slightly, it falls back totally open


the problem here is obviously gravity

or his house is at an angle

It was the way it was built.  If you don't want it like that, get a heavier door or get different hinges.

Tightening makes it open and closer smoother.  Also would probably would worsen the problem for you because now it just slides open easier.

Looks like it won't stay open. Like if you were to have it half way closed, it would slowly swing back to being wide open. I've seen this happen and it's really loving annoying.

Use a wedge of wood as a door jam. Works great.

Seriously. Ive done it before.
