Author Topic: The (Near) Solution to Build Stealing  (Read 5216 times)

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I think Baddy may allow a mod that only allows the player to save his/her bricks only.

The mod wouldn't be an addon.  It would be an executable program that would run WITH Blockland to transfer the data.

Badspot can't bypass this.  Once released, if at all, every person can change the .exe name of the program and it would be untraceable.  (Of course, change the save location as well - at the very least it would be a pain in the ass to try to block it based on how it acts within the game.)
You don't have to detect the program that's screwing with the game, just make the game so it can't be screwed with.

Or you could just use all-custom bricks.

Unless it's impossible, then you must make a program.

Or you could just use all-custom bricks.

I have been meaning to do this, but I don't knoww what to change to make it do so...

Thanks for ruining half the point of blockland, jerk. Just cause a FEW starfishs steal credit someone has to go and ruin the fun for everyone.

Don't worry, he doesn't really seem to know what he's talking about.

Unfortunately Jerkface seems to be rather experienced. And breaking the ability to run blockland through another exe to break no-saving would also break the mission editor from what I hear

i'd actualy want to make something like this, as an option of what bricks to save

Each person would of course have their own method of saving like this, thus completely neutralizing this statement.
Like I can't throw in a variable or change a couple of words each time right?
I would release the builds, not the script.

You have no idea how things work. Bricks are already saved completely client-sided.

Do it man.

This is the best reply.  Seriously.

It'd be like you going to an art convention, and you're allowed to bring your best painting.  The world's most famous critics are there and will buy random art pieces that they love for tons of cash.  HOWEVER!  By bringing your art, the rule is "If someone takes it without anyone noticing and runs off, they are allowed to keep it, no objections."

So, you COULD bring it, for you could get rich, BUT there is a large chance that someone will just simply steal it.  No repercussions.  It's like "forgeted up World" and "Utopia" got slammed together and made a new world called "This loving Sucks".
Put your BLID in the build.

Post it in the gallery before you host.

And comparing it to paintings is a horrible idea, because paintings are physical.

It is kind of an interesting parallel though. But yeah other than that, thats what all the default builds have. All of them have the creators name or id hidden in a less accessable area of the build.

Honestly, I would love to see someone try and prevent me from saving client sided.

It would be possible if somehow the bricks were generated differently than using RAM.
