ABOUT
Well on the evening of the 27th in August, I hosted a Fort Wars server. I host many, and fundamentally, this was not much different. However, it seemed to be simply much worse than the past. People just camped out at the spawn and fought there, zipped about and crashed into walls in spitfires, and those who did build a base often did so well, but found themselves getting killed as they worked very often. I didn't do a very good job here in general.
Thus, this came into my mind. By organizing how the server will work, it make it easier to manage and hopefully much more fun. I also think that the addition of players organizing their own team will add a bit more to the experience.
PHASES
Each game is organized into 3 phases:
Organization,
Building, and finally
Combat.
1. ORGANIZATIONOrganization is the first phase, when teams are formed and organized and a map is decided. This can last anywhere from 15 minutes to a day, mostly depending on both user activity and my own availability.
2. BUILDINGBuilding is when the 6 teams construct their bases. These can either be loaded by the team leader or constructed in-game during the phase. If a team is returning, they can use the same base they used in the past. This phase ends once at least 5 out of the 6 teams have completed construction and the 6th team has at least basic cover and defenses. Before the phase completely finishes, the host and any other present administrators will do a quick check over of the other bases to ensure that they both are quality and are also not hilariously broken (eg. a missile silo that spews long range missiles over everything for miles, kill events everywhere, VCE or relay spam).
3. COMBATThe meat of the game~ Combat is when the 6 teams finally do battle with one another in a team deathmatch to 250 points. Killing another player will give a player 2 points while being killed or otherwise dying will lose you 1 point. During this phase there will be an elevated spawn area where players who join during this time will be allowed to choose what team to join, provided there is space. Combatants will spawn in their own teams base and can do whatever they can to kill the other teams. This phase does not really end.
TEAMS
Players can establish their own teams for combat, zowie! Each team can have up to 4 members in-game and a leader.
