Author Topic: Server Restart  (Read 1097 times)

I always have to disconnect my clients when I have to restart and I never get them back...

But what if you can restart and ceap your clients?

So what if you can restart the server and it lagges them out while the server is restarting then
when all the magor things are loaded it gos in to a map loading screan while the rest of the server
comes back on line... This way you dont lose as mayny clients.

-Rtb pref butten please

annybody at all want to reply?

Is this possible?

I doubt it...

I think Change Map function works.  But still.

Stop restarting your server then.

You don't get credit for a request.

Usually I'd trust Kalphiter on this, but it may, in fact be possible.  If blockland.us and RTB4Connect(Beta4) has the ability to trigger query a server, by one Server mod, wouldn't it be possible?

I'm sorry, what?

1. The client will try to connect before the server is up. They'll probably get some kind of connection error before the host brings the server back up. (unless it's an automatic restart)
2. The Blockland client itself can connect directly to an IP easily. However, we would have to make a client sided mod that everyone would have to have in order for this to work. If they were to go through the trouble of downloading a mod to automatically rejoin a server because the server suggested it, then they'd probably like the server enough to rejoin it manually anyways. If they don't enjoy the server enough to rejoin it after it's back up, then it's very unlikely that they'd download the mod in the first place.

Would it be possible for Blockland to open an alternate server with all the criteria from the other server, then migrate the players to that server? Migrate as in redirect their IP:Port to the alternate IP:Port.
Of course it would probably require multiple ports open.

Refer to point #2.

Refer to point #2.
The server handles sending out client data right?
So couldn't server #1 stop all data and have server #2 take over?...
But that would need a client refresh and would require a client-sided mod for it, ah I see.
