theres always a possibility. really nobody knows anything. you can say "SCIENCE SAYS THIS, SCIENCE SAYS THAT" but there are loopholes that may not have been checked (no wait i'm positive they've never been checked) because we still do not have the equipment for something like that. death is a really deep subject, and no matter what science says there is always something that could be evading them.

but nobody wants eternal life. it gets extremely boring after a while. (or it will) and so much nothingness can be torture in itself

Yes, there is a miniscule possibility that there may be life after death. There is also a (much larger) possibility that your typing is the result of a banana falling across a keyboard.

I feel that the best thing we can do is simply live our life to the fullest, in harmony with each other best we can, and to cherish every moment that we have here. This very well may be the only life as this one we may have, which is why we have to make the best of it. But even dying is a part of life, strange as it may sound, as each being that lives has its time and then must move on so another can have its. Worrying about such only burns that time quicker.

Now, that isn't to say one shouldn't ever worry, we should. It's natural to hold fear of what may be or what is. And that isn't to say one shouldn't ever contemplate, because we should do that as well. But we must try to overcome what fears and worries we have so that they can no longer stop us from moving further. We must try to learn to answer the "whys" of our being, but also accept that some may never have any clear defined answer, or is better left without one. We must try to view the past so we may better see our present and future, but not let that viewing hinder us from continuing. Not every moment is going to be wonderful and not every moment is going to go as slow as we may like, but that doesn't mean that each can't hold Love. Time, life, and Love are three delicate, precious things and when they live in balance none can be wasted.

who cares if you're right or not in this life? its the next life that matters because this is finite, the afterlife is infinite
um, you didn't understand the brown townogy. it's better to think there is and get surprised than think there is and get disappointed. besides, you say that as if it's better to live this life constantly worshiping and apologizing for being human, rather than living your life and having fun.

It's quite simple. When we die, our bodies will decompose. The atoms of our bodies will be rearranged to new molecules. In that matter, we will continue to live forever. Part of you will maybe turn to grass, which will be eaten by a cow, which will be eaten by a pregnant woman. So a tiny part of you will actually be reborn as a new human being! On a related note: It is also quite cool to think about that each and every one of us consists of stardust.

But I have to disappoint you about the counsciousness part. Thoughts are just electrochemical reactions inside our brains. They do not have mass or energy, nor can they exist outside our brains. Therefore, they cease to exist once we die :/

Thank you. I read this post and it's exactly what I was pondering. Now I'm not as scared.

are you saying i can't have fun?

are you saying i can't have fun?

Again, what if there's a god who only lets intelligent people into heaven? Wouldn't you be better off acting intelligent?

that's one intelligent banana.

My banana can't spell half as good as that.

Personally life and the Universe bores me.
I don't understand how something so completely beautiful and magnificent as our universe can bore you. It's vastness is mind boggling and just the immense size is indescribable. Looking out through advanced observatories scientists have developed shows us this absolute beauty. Come to think of it, we have this to enjoy. This is truly our one life to live, and for all of whats in the universe I am grateful to be able to learn more and more about it, to understand its amazing systems, and to just be able to gaze at its glory. The universe is what makes me doubt, and what makes me wonder.

The Big Bang Theory, which is understandably widely accepted, suggests that the entire universe was first in an indefinitely small, and indefinitely mass timeless space. I realize that on this sub-atomic level a lot is possible. Quantum mechanics back up that these sub atomic particles can actually disappear, and then reappear in a different spot. At some point, there was obviously an off-set and the universe expanded all at once. Time and space were created... But I always ask, "Where did the indefinitely small and massive point even come to get there?" I rarely ever get an intelligent response. I suggest some form of a creator placed it there and let nature take it's course. However, if time didn't exist before this, there is no time for a creator to have existed...
