What scopes should look like in games

You'd like Red Orchestra Ostfront.

What I don't like about most shooters is that they're shooters.

they look like that in more simulator-ish games, like arma2 and red orchestra. killing floor does that as well afaik with scopes.

Look at those compared to this

the reason you have tunnel vision in scopes is:
-model based scopes like the ones in simulators are extremely resource intensive on old pcs
-balance; in a fast paced shooter, you don't want the sniper to be able to use his sniper rifle easily in close combat.

What about slow-med paced shooters like Battlefield?

i consider battlefield to be a fast paced game. you don't want the already powerful recon classes to have any more advantages, and tbh, the xbox would probably start to chug if you had model based scopes rather than texture based.

You want realistic, go play occupation CS.
It's on Mod DB, features-
-Changeable ammo
-armor
-bleedouts
-sniping is improved
-and some other stuff.

This is one of the many reasons why I love SMOD: Tactical.

Another awesome thing about SMOD: Tactical. Most of the maps where made from HL2:DM maps, so there are usually multiple ways to reach the objective.
