If you need help my school uses this program and it comes with online video tutors I sometimes use. http://www.phschool.com/atschool/txtbk_res_math.html

Just pick the correct category and age group and if you do some searching through the chapters you should find anything you need.

Probably a freshman.

He has to define variables, I'm guessing 7th or 8th. We were moving on to Advanced algebra by fresman year.

Hi, I'm 12 and what is this?

Also, I'm in Algebra.

Edit: Um...

T = Tip

Tip = W * .12

W = Wage

$ = Total

$ = W + T

Edit2: Ugh, read it wrong, fixed though.

Then just graph the points for 100 * .12 and 200 * .12 and so on.

Fasdf why did my brain stop working.

$ = W + T

Basically, they leave a tip of $5.40

T = Tip

Tip = W * .12 * 100

Fasdf why did my brain stop working.

$ = W * .12

Which is just Y = X * .12

that should be how you graph it...

Ugh, this was my first day of 7th grade, I'm probably not right...

was about to say 12% =/= 1/12 but you fixed it.

The tip is not multiplied by 100, that would indicate that the tip is larger than the wage.
Wait, then you fixed it again.

Anyway, you are actually doing the problem incorrectly.  The waiter earns 12% on the amount spent on food, not on the income.  The amount spent on food is intended to be the independant variable, and you are supposed to graph how the waiter's total wage changes as the amount spent of food changes.

Domain: 0-900

Paycheck = 45 + 0.12 * X

Yea, I'm bouncing around here. I was finding percentage, not the other way around, at first.

It's still not right yet.
EDIT: I think I got it.

YOU PLOT THIS EQUATION: $ = W + (X * .12) Y = 45 + (X * .12)

Y = $

X = the plot thingy from $0 - $900

We aren't looking for the paycheck, but yes I realized that before you pointed it out.

I think I got it though.

write an equation in intercept form to represent Manny's daily income in terms of the amount his customers spend on food and beverages.

Incorrect, The waiter does not receive the payment on the food.
And everything is gud now

Ugh, yep you're right. There, I fixed it:

YOU PLOT THIS EQUATION: $ = W + (X * .12) Y = 45 + (X * .12)
Weren't completely the same, though.
Incorrect, The waiter does not receive the payment on the food.
Stop editing >:C

ANYWAYS: Like my PE teacher said today, I knew all this stuff, but it was locked in my long term memory.

Also, I'm younger than either of you guys, and it is certainly not 6th grade math.

I am 3 years ahead of my grade level
Calculus as a sophomore

It was fifth grade for me.

It was fifth grade for me.
That doesn't make any sense.

You don't just get to make up your own standards.

It is not a 6th grade standard. You don't learn it in school. And if you do, you don't go to a public school.

Point is, if you go home and learn about it, you can't say it's from fifth grade, because it isn't part of the school.

I'm glad you have this forum to refer to for all of your extremely basic math which you could've figured out easily had you just thought for a minute.
