Author Topic: im tired of this music!  (Read 5354 times)

sometimes, i already have some music a server does, but someone changes the title of alot of the songs. so the program thinks it's different songs. so it downloads those songs alover again! i think there should be a rule that makes it where people can't change the title of songs.

p.s. can someone please move this to suggestions? i would do so, but im too lazy and don't feel like retyping all of this.

ok. why it's such a bad idea? im tired of downloading songs i already have. that just makes it take even longer for it to load and let me spawn when im on a server.

Why would you think it's a good idea to not be able to change song titles? How would that even work?

i don't know how it would work. i was talking about people not being allowed to, and if they do, they will get banned. don't you get tired of downloading music you already have?

Get banned...for changing a song title...on their own server?

And if you don't want to download a damn song just don't do it.

well not get banned, but get a warning.

Your idea makes no sense and would never work. Your song title is different from their's, shouldn't you get a ban too?

All of Justin's ideas suck, he should stop making them.  Think things through before posting and remember, no cares.

Didn't he say stop doing that last topic?

If you don't like downloading the same music repeatidly, turn music downloading off, and quit your whinging.

I suggest a MD5 (trimmed to 8 chars) based system for music files.

Example: You put in a "Pacman On Crack.ogg" and it get's renamed to "936bc8e5.ogg" and the original Filename as a Tag inside the ogg file or as "936bc8e5.txt".

This way you won't load files over and over again, because they have the same filename on all servers cause of the checksum. The title information won't be lost either cause of the txt file or the tag.

Simply put: You cannot change this from happening at all. Torque doesn't know the difference of songs and people are certainly not going to follow a rule on the forums that states that they can't change song names.

Just read what I wrote, you could make that done by torque automaticly.

who's up for coding an MD5 checker though... >_>
