It started with Pokemon, not a huge problem, then Yu-gi-oh, and now a bunch of stuff like Beyblade, Bakugan, and a TON of stuff. Why...? /Discuss
Pokemon was understandable.
Yu-gi-oh was SOLVE WORLD CRCIA WITH CHILDREN'S CARD GAME
Beyblade was OMG I'M YELLING AT A HUNK OF PLASTIC/METAL IT MAKES IT SPIN FASTER AND PRODUCE HOLOGRAMS
The rest I don't know much at all about.
It's not that every battle toy needs its own anime show, it's that every anime show needs its own battle toy.
Take Transformers for instance. Unless I'm much mistaken, the series came before the toy line.
And as for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there were enough action figures inspired by that series to give every soldier in the US army a unique action figure.
I'm not sure if you're aware, but Transformers and TMNT aren't battle toys. They're action figures.
Battle toys as in, you play a game with them.
