For so many years, I've had this game in my head which I had played in the past. It was so interesting and odd, but I didn't keep track of what it actually was. It constantly perplexes me to actually find what it is, and I need help identifying it. I can't even remember if it is PlayStation 1 or Dreamcast. My memory about it is fuzzy and possibly not 100% correct now from simply giving up in the past:
You play as the son in a happy family. One day, your mother simply changes turning basically evil and mistreating your family quietly but noticeably. One day, the government comes and you're about to be shot. For that moment, she is able to regain herself and jump in the way of the bullet, dying. Years later, you go on a quest for some reason, and party up with people along the way, eventually leading you to some facility where they are feeding mutated humans into this machine. It turns out, the human race was actually spawned from an evil supercomputer that escaped a prison ship and landed on Earth, and the humans are actually just spare parts being breed over thousands of years. You confront the new person harboring the thing's consciousness (Your mother had it before) and she dies. But the female you party up with is taken control over by the thing, and you are taken away or something.
There's probably flaws in that, but does anyone remember the game? That isn't the whole thing, mind you.
