Normal thing becomes scary thing, scary thing chases protagonist, protagonist hides in house, scary thing kills protagonist.

This is actually a regularly used formula.

The imagination thing makes it even more silly, because if the protagonist acknowledges it's not real, then the only thing that kills him is himself. Which then makes this Self Delete. Which then just makes this a messed up Self Delete note. Which is another trite formula.

Sorry if I was rude but it's a tried and untrue formula you wrote with, especially ending mid-word as you or the main character is taken away. Original stories and even short stories are very hard to come up with though, especially in this day and age where everyone is a "writer". You need to take the skeleton of your story and put a unique spin on it, trite as that sounds.
