Author Topic: Egg Drop Contraption ideas.  (Read 7680 times)

I need to make a egg drop contraption for physics class, and I don't know how I should. I was thinking the inside filled with cotton around the box, with a styrofoam cup attached to strings attached to the box with the egg on the inside. Well I don't have any cups and I don't know if I have cotton. Any ideas?
LIMITS:
No more than 3cm covering the egg.
You can't use some materials (I forget)
No para suits.

That's really much it. I already have a decent size box.

Jesus what school do you go to.

socks?
Not a bad idea. I would just have to find an old sock laying around.

wrap it around something cuplike so it makes a garbage bag and put another sock at the bottom for a landing pad methinks

socks?
Bad idea, some kid tried it at my school and it failed miserably.

my middle school did this too :V

but it was really more of a end of the year not actually learning just having fun dropping things kind of thing

my group used a big PS3 box full of cotton balls with a shoe box inside also filled with cotton balls with the egg inside, but it looks like you can't do that

it makes it seem fun and involves kids with it instead of "the velocity of the mass of an object will hit the ground at a rate of 42 brotherwatts" in a monotone voice in front of a whiteboard(possibly smart board if OP's school has any funding at all)

Put the egg in a jar of peanut butter, wrap that in squishy material, surround that with styrofoam, done.

It's just a bit of fun you fruitcake. Life doesn't have to be so boring.

How far is it getting dropped? 3cm isn't really enough.
