Finally ventured to Falthreath. Better than most of the small cities but was still disappointed. Dawnstar, morthal, etc all have nothing to do in them. At least Falkreath is in a nice, vast forest.

LYDIA GOD DAMMIT WHY DO YOU STAND IN THE DOORWAYS SO MUCH

i've never used a follower, because i like to be stealthy most of the time.

Lydia died for me VERY early in the game and i have no idea how

You keep her inheritance letter?

I was devastated when she died, and I never really used her as a follower. Now I never let my housecarl in Solitude to leave the house, 'cept to carry stuff when I'm out smithing.

Lydia died on the Mehrunes' Razor quest, by a Dremora.
Twas devastating.

Why are you implying it was never a big deal
It wasn't, when Oblivion came out no one made a big deal about it.

I don't think Lydia can actually die from any of the monsters. She goes down, but you need to be the one to land the finishing blow.

I accidently killed Lydia after she went down fighting draugr very, very early in the game. Aela the Huntress eventually replaced her.

Enemies can kill followers, but will stop attacking them when they go down.  Basically the only way they will kill your follower is with an AoE attack or if they shoot an arrow or something at you, miss, and hit your follower.  They might kill your follower too if the attack is really powerful, but I don't know if a follower can be killed in one hit.

yeah they can be killed by enemies
just doesn't happen often because enemies are supposed to stop hitting them once they're down. things like spells, or aoe attacks/missed arrows like nepthan said can take em out tho.

They die more often if you accidentally hit them while in battle. Even early in the fight.

I still have Lydia, but I don't use her. Aela is much better at fighting.

She sits in Breezehome and does nothing. Maybe I'll get her killed one day.

I do everything solo.

fukin hell, a night to remember quest

did I actually sleep with a hargraven

Every elder dragon i've had to kill so far, and lydia is nowhere to be seen.

you stupid bitch

I was in Nchuand-Zel in Markarth, and noticed a ledge with a Dwarven chest I could just reach with Whirlwind Sprint. I did so, and it turned out to be the other end of gooing through Nchuand-Zel Quarters. I decided to go in, and Iona came in the other side. She started working her way toward me, while I worked my way toward her. But I wasn't fast enough, and the Falhmer killed her since I was too far away for them to retarget me instead. I reloaded, because I don't want to lose Iona. :(

The point is, if you leave your follower alone with enemies, the enemies won't know where you are to retarget and will instead keep attacking your follower until they die. Be careful leaving your follower alone with enemies, don't go too far at least.
